LOGAN, W.Va. – Candace Hope Ferrell, 38, of Logan, WV pled guilty to Drug Delivery Resulting in Death and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver on April 2, 2025.
According to court documents and statements made in court, on Saturday July 24, 2021, Trooper D.T. Bryant of the WVSP responded to an overdose complaint at the Southwestern Regional Jail. After communications with the investigator for the Division of Corrections, Lt. Barry Blair, it was discovered that inmate Amber Nicole White had died as a result of an apparent drug overdose. White’s body was sent for an autopsy, and Blair continued his investigation to create the WVDOC jail report. The autopsy report, which confirmed death by overdose, coupled with the jail report led Trooper Bryant and Prosecutor David Wandling to discover that two females, identified as Candace Ferrell and Candis Harmon, were responsible for providing White with the substances that caused her overdose and death.
The Logan County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office commends the investigative work of Trooper Bryant of the WVSP and Lt. Barry Blair with the DOC.
Ferrell is scheduled to be sentenced on May 29, 2025, and could face up to thirty (30) years in a state correctional facility.
Judge Gilmore-Codispoti presided over the hearing. Prosecuting Attorney David Wandling is prosecuting the case.
