SOUTH CHARLESTON MAN PLEADS GUILTY IN SOLICITATION CASE

LOGAN, W.Va. – Chad Michael White, 44, of South Charleston, West Virginia, entered a guilty plea in Logan County Circuit Court to the charges of Soliciting a Minor and Traveling to Engage the Minor in Prohibited Sexual Activity and Use of Minors in Filming Sexually Explicit Conduct.
According to court documents and statements made in court, on February 23, 2023, Chad Michael White traveled from Marmet, West Virginia in a rented U-Haul to pick up the minor from her residence. From there, the Defendant drove to the Chapmanville park and ride where he parked the truck and asked the minor for assistance looking for a lost debit card in the back of the U-Haul. The Defendant closed the back door and began to assault and record the minor.
Corporal Bowling, along with Sergeant S.A. Hatten, were able to identify the Defendant using facial recognition technology provided by investigators and analysts of WVIX. The Logan County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office commends the investigative work of Corporal S.P. Bowling and the West Virginia State Police.
White is scheduled to be sentenced on May 1, 2025, and could be facing up to ten years for the Use of Minors in Filming Sexually Explicit Conduct conviction and a determinate sentence of not less than five nor more than thirty years for the Soliciting a Minor and Traveling to Engage the Minor in Prohibited Sexual Activity conviction.
Judge Gilmore-Codispoti presided over the hearing. Prosecuting Attorney David Wandling is prosecuting the case.
